Spanish – Bienvenido

Life has a way of taking you by surprise. Some of them even pleasantly. It happened to me when I arrived in Slough in 2000 as an AuPair , planning to just stay for 3 months.

I was studying English at university and wanted to improve my speaking skills. Little did I know that I was going to stay for 20 plus years.

When I initially arrive I was quite shocked to find the diversity and multiculturalism within the town. You see, I’m from a very small village in the South west of Spain in the border with Portugal and never been in such a diverse place. It was an overwhelming feeling, totally took me by surprise ( pleasantly).

As life happens… and having created a beautiful family and strong roots within the community makes me very proud of being a Slough resident.

Slough has given me a home, it has welcomed and embraced us. Beauty of this fantastic town lies in its acceptance, tolerance and adaptability. And it’s the only place I’ve seen my kids grow up and turn into fine young men.
