About The Project

#ARTSCAPE is a brainchild of The Slough Hub, a community organization dedicated to the economic development of Slough dedicated to the economic development of Slough; making it a happier and healthier place to live. It aims to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary works of art, fostering creativity and bringing people together. Through this mural, we hope to inspire conversations, ignite imaginations, and promote a strong sense of belonging within our beloved town.

We are proud to acknowledge the generous contribution of the Quadrin Group, a Slough-based financial services company, who have wholeheartedly commissioned this mural for the upliftment of the Slough community and the ignition of creativity. Their visionary support exemplifies the spirit of corporate responsibility and community engagement. By leading the way, they aspire to encourage other businesses to make similar contributions, thereby changing the landscape of Slough and making it an even more desirable place to live, work, or play

About The Artist

Simrah Ahmed (@y3llow.art), first-generation British. Comes from a South Asian family. She moved to London, UK at the age of 8 where facing a new language, new culture was not the only challenge Simrah faced; her biggest challenge has been growing up unaware of being dyslexic, which she first became aware of while studying architecture at Central Saint Martins.

Simrah found her artistic voice by embracing her dyslexic way of thinking and feelings that she now shares through her Instagram as the artist name Y3LLOW. She uses abstract art and manipulation of text to depict similar positive thought-provoking experiences and feelings she faces. Her work has been shown in various galleries such as the Waterman Arts Centre, Brentford and Pitzhanger, Ealing, UK. She has also exhibited the following;

2020 solo exhibition, ON AIR, London, UK

2022 solo exhibition, COLOUR, Slough, UK

About The Quote

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see” is attributed to Henry David Thoreau, an American essayist, poet, and philosopher. This thought-provoking quote carries profound insights about perception, interpretation, and the significance of personal perspective. It urges us to go beyond superficial observation and tap into the profound meaning and interpretation of our experiences. It reminds us that our perception is a powerful tool that shapes our reality and influences our relationship with the world around us. By cultivating a mindful and introspective approach to what we see, we can gain valuable insights, foster personal growth, and develop a deeper appreciation for the wonders of life.
