Just east of the great metropolis of London, lies a smaller, but fast growing town Slough. Chief among
its many attributes is the strong base of secondary education, containing multiple grammar schools with exemplary results. This reputation drew me to Slough, travelling west from the edges of Greater London, in an endeavour to reap the benefits and enhance my academic potential.

Along with the rigorous and robust education process, the depth and breadth of extra curricular activities available offered me an opportunity to branch out and discover new aspects of myself, in sports, arts and leisure. The healthy and competent competition both in academia and out propelled me forward to become a strong and confident adult.

My experience is not unique. Throughout my time in school, I met many who had been drawn the same way to Slough, a diverse palette of nationalities and ethnicities this raised my awareness of many cultures and brought to focus the wealth of experience a diverse cohort can provide. Having been born in the Czech Republic, I was able to return the favour in kind.

The success of Slough in all above aspects became evident with my acceptance into one of the best
universities in the world. Whether it be my well-developed work ethic boosting me to academic success, or my training in sports granting me captaincy of a college team, or even my experience in interacting with other cultures strengthening my connections with the wide range of international students, I will forever be grateful for Slough for the work it did into building me up to the person I am today.
