“THERE IS ALWAYS A HOPE “

Ankita Patel is a young Indian woman, married two years ago. After her marriage she made a transition across two different cities in India, she lost all her friends, she started feeling alone.

In the year 2021, she moved with her husband to Slough, situated in Berkshire England, which is one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse towns in the UK. The country was new, no friends at all, she was not able to talk to strangers because the language barrier. She was feeling so alone, dealing with her anxiety issues, sometimes she had panic attacks. Visiting the park daily, she made 3-4 Indian friends, but that was not enough. she wants to socialise, she want to get a job because in India she was an advocate but now she is unemployed. The main barrier was language and her decreasing mental health.

One day her friend messaged on her, that she had received an email from The Slough Hub. The Slough Hub was organising English courses which were free and held in the locally in the library which is Slough’s iconic library and Cultural Centre, right in the heart of town. She asked for the link to be sent. Ankita opened that link, she was already looking for this kind of opportunity and she got it. She registered immediately, received confirmation. Now she was a part of English courses. Her confidence is back, she socialises and made some new connections and friends. Her mental health is becoming better, she is recovering from her anxiety and she is living a very cheerful and happy life like before marriage.

This is the real story of me. So no matter how new are you in any country, doesn’t matter if you don’t know the language, no matter how bad you are feeling now. “There is always a hope to change your life.” there is always hope you will get your confidence back. There is always hope that you can overcome your mental health.

So do not lose hope, just relax, learn something new and try to be happy and positive. Everything will be fine. I am happy now, I am having a great time with my family, friends and peoples who are in my life. Slough changed my life completely and I know one day I will definitely get a good job.
